Email/Calendar Update – Pilot Begins

[Oct. 1, 2012] The calendar/email pilot officially got underway last week with several IT staff taking the plunge. I’m pleased to report that so far the consensus seems to be, “Come on in, the water’s fine!”

This week, the pilot will be expanding to include volunteers across the College who agreed to participate and share their feedback.

On a personal level I can tell you that the migration process was oh-so easy and I was relieved to see all of my folders and email arrive in tact. Phew. One of the new features that I’ve been enjoying most so far is the server side message filtering – set your message filters through the Outlook web interface and they will be applied from whatever email client you access your mail from—pretty darn handy. And finally having a modern, full-featured calendar that can easily be accessed from my smartphone is a sheer delight. Good riddance Oracle Calendar!

Email Address Domain Change

The primary email address for staff users will be changing to first.last@sheridancollege.ca

• Current email addresses that reference Sheridan’s legacy domains – sheridanc.on.ca; sheridanistitute.ca – will still be accepted and routed to your new inbox.

• Any new email you send will appear to recipients with your new email address.

Be sure to make plans to update any references to your old email address in business cards, promotional materials, web pages, etc.
