2021/2022 General Computing Standards for Sheridan Programs*

[updated June 23, 2021] For the majority of Sheridan programs, using a Windows or macOS based device with the minimum specifications indicated below, will provide you with all of the processing power you need for remote learning and production work. If you are unsure of what you need for your particular program, contact your program coordinator.

* If you are registered in one of Sheridan's Laptop Learning programs  ownership of a suitable laptop that meets the published recommend standard for your program is mandated.

IMPORTANT: see details about potential software compatibility issues with computers that feature Apple's new silicon processors (M1 chips) and/or macOS 11 (Big Sur).

IMPORTANT

  • Sheridan students can purchase online from the Sheridan Apple Store or from any Apple Store at Education pricing provided they show a valid student number. Apple's Back to School Promotions usually begin mid to late summer. We recommend waiting to purchase during the promotion period.

Computing Requirements for Programs in the Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design (FAAD)

Below is the list of FAAD programs and their computing requirements for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Webcam & Microphone Recommended

Given that classes may be taking place remotely as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, your computer should have a webcam and audio input/output capabilities. A quality headset/microphone is also recommended.

We strongly recommend you have an internet connection that can effectively provide this speed for your device at all times:
