Rollout Rescheduled to October 2012

MS Excha ngeDue to a number of circumstances we will not be migrating to the new email/calendar system in August as originally planned. After consulting with several stakeholders and understanding that this is a very busy time of year for email communications with staff, faculty and students, we have decided to reschedule our rollout plans to the break week in October (Oct. 22-26).  We will be piloting the new system with various users across the College over the course of the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition for all.  More details will be forthcoming as we formalize the migration plan.

User Calendar Data will NOT be Automatically Migrated to the New System

After consultation with our vendor partner and careful consideration, it has been decided that we will not be doing a mass migration of users’ calendar data – meetings, notes, tasks, or address books – to the new system. This is due to a number of factors, but primarily the software tool for doing the automated migration does not cleanly migrate calendar appointments and data.

Start Fresh or Manually Export your Data

While many users will undoubtedly welcome starting off with a clean calendar, the heavy calendar users amongst us may find the prospect of facing an empty calendar to be unsettling, to say the least. We are currently testing various options for users who wish to manually export their Oracle calendar data and import it into the new calendar environment. Complete instructions and any caveats you need to be aware of will be made available in the coming weeks.

Workshops and Drop-in Sessions

We will also be conducting workshops and drop-in sessions for calendar ‘power users’ to help users during the transition period. It’s important to note that the Oracle calendar system will be available (read-only) for a number months following the implementation of the new system to provide you with access to your former calendar’s data.
