Think Before You Click…

Clicking without thinking is like driving with your eyes closed

image of young woman driving with eyes closed[updated October 13, 2020] October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month and the theme that Sheridan IT would like to highlight this year is ‘Be Careful Where You Click’. Every week through the month of October we will offer up some handy tips centred around this theme to help make your computing experiences more secure.

When it comes to links in emails and web pages, what you see isn’t always where you will go. Always hover the cursor over links before clicking to find out where they will actually take you, as shown in the example below.

Note: typically when you hover over a link, the URL will be displayed in the status bar at the bottom of the browser window. The example above is for illustrative purposes only.

Security Awareness Training for Employees

If you want to learn more about cybersecurity, all Sheridan employees have access to comprehensive, online security awareness training offered through KnowBe4. Go to training.knowbe4.com and sign-in with your Sheridan email address to get started.
