[July 24, 2019] IT Staff will be making some upgrades to our network infrastructure begging at 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 25. Here's the low-down:
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 until 6 a.m. on Friday morning, IT staff will be replacing the distribution layer switches at the Trafalgar campus that service the following areas:
There will be network outages in all of the areas noted above during the upgrade period – all wired and wireless connectivity will be impacted. Services will be restored wing by wing as connections are migrated to the new switches. Connectivity in all wings other than the ones listed will still be available.
IT staff will be doing their best to restore connectivity as quickly as possible and are hoping to complete the migration by 1 a.m. on Friday. However, it could take up until 6 a.m. to complete the migration.
IT staff will continue updating our DHCP/DNS infrastructure, updating software to the current version. Consequently, users on campus during the upgrade period who are trying to access the internet may experience very brief, intermittent disruptions. Users at the Trafalgar campus will experience longer network disruptions due to Distribution Layer Switch upgrade noted above.
We thank-you for your patience and support as we perform this necessary maintenance. If you have further questions or concerns about this upgrade, contact the IT Service Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org.
