Email/Calendar Upgrade for Employees Begins Saturday, July 29

[July 21, 2017] On Saturday, July 29 from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. Information Technology will be upgrading the employee email and calendar system. The upgrade will take us from Microsoft Exchange version 2013 to version 2016. Some of the new features you can look forward to include:

The upgrade process itself is quite seamless and most employees should not experience any significant disruptions—if you happen to be accessing email during the upgrade period, you may be disconnected and required to restart your mail client or web browser.

Migration of User Mail Boxes

Following the server upgrade, employee mailboxes will be migrated to new servers. It will take about two weeks to migrate every employee’s mailbox. This work is being done after hours to minimize disruptions. Again, you may be disconnected and required to restart your mail client or web browser. Once your mailbox has been migrated the most visible change will be to Outlook on the web, as noted above.

Update Your Office Suite

While older versions of Outlook (Outlook 2013-Windows; Outlook 2011-Mac) are compatible with Exchange 2016, we recommend that everyone use Outlook 2016 for the most seamless user experience. Outlook 2016 is available as part of Microsoft Office 2016.
