Email/Calendar Upgrade for Employees Begins July 26*

Exchange 2013[updated July 14, 2014] Information Technology will be upgrading the employee email and calendar system starting on Saturday, July 26, 2014, concluding on Sunday, August 17. The upgrade will take us from Microsoft Exchange version 2010 to version 2013. Some of the new features you can look forward to include better web browser support for Outlook Web App (OWA) and an enhanced user experience that features new layouts for desktop, tablet, and smartphone use.

Employees may start to see changes beginning on July 19

OWA users can expect a change to the login screen and once their mailbox is migrated they will see the whole appearance of OWA change to the new look and feel of Exchange 2013.

Users of rich clients such as Outlook 2010/2011/2013 and Mac Mail may not notice any apparent changes.

The migration process is quite seamless with the exception of a short period of time when the mailbox being upgraded will be unavailable. The bulk of the migrations will be done after business hours to minimize disruption. After your mailbox has been migrated you will receive a completion email message.

Outlook 2007 No Longer Supported

With the upgrade to Exchange 2013, Outlook 2007 will no longer be supported. Users currently using Outlook 2007 will need to upgrade to either Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013. Both Office 2010 and Office 2013* are available for download via AccessSheridan for use on College owned/leased computers. Look for the link Software Installation under the heading Software for Sheridan Laptops & Workstations.

* Office 2013 will be available for download beginning Tuesday, July 15.
