[July 29, 2020] With significant changes to Sheridan's academic environment brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, access to a laptop or desktop computer, along with a reliable, high-speed internet connection, is now essential for all students.
For many of Sheridan's programs, ownership of a suitable laptop is already mandated as a condition of admission. If you are registered in one of Sheridan's Laptop Learning programs make sure you have a computer that meets the published recommend standard for your program.
FAAD has developed minimum and recommended computing standards for each of their programs. A listing of programs and their requirements can be viewed on the 2020-2021 FAAD Computing Requirements page.
For the majority of Sheridan programs, using any device with specifications along the lines of the Mac mainstream or Windows mainstream models that are used in the Laptop Learning programs will provide you with all of the processing power you need for remote learning and production work. If you are unsure of what you need for your particular program, contact your program coordinator.
We strongly recommend you have an internet connection that can effectively provide this speed for your device at all times:
NOTE: Sheridan does not rent, lease or sell laptops. A Smart Phone, Netbook, tablet (e.g. an iPad) is not a suitable replacement for a laptop.
