Requirements

SharePoint Site Administration

As IT can provide only limited support to SharePoint users, it is imperative that each SharePoint site has at least one person with demonstrated SharePoint experience or training to act as administrator for their site. Each area administrator will be responsible for their Sharepoint site collection including managing user access, developing page layouts, document libraries, content updates, etc.

Getting Started

Requesting a New SharePoint Site

To request a new SharePoint site for your area, please contact the IT Service Desk and provide the following information:

  • the title and purpose of the new site
  • the name of the person, with previous SharePoint experience or training, who will act as site administrator
  • a list of individuals who will require access to the site (including their network user names)

Accessing Sheridan's SharePoint Sites

Current Sheridan SharePoint site collections are listed at: https://go.sheridanc.on.ca/

Most sites are restricted to a specific list of people so you will not be able to view all sites. You must contact the "site owner" to gain access to a Sharepoint site.

Online Training

Online training via lynda.com is available to all Sheridan staff members. Follow the instructions below to access the training site.

  1. Go to: http://lynda.sheridancollege.ca
  2. Log-in with your Sheridan username and password
  3. Search for "sharepoint" to see the list of available courses.
