Laptop Readiness Sessions

Available to

  • Students who are entering a Mobile Computing Program

Requirements

  • must be entering first year of a Mobile Computing program

  • your laptop must meet the requirements specified for your Mobile Computing program

Laptop Readiness Sessions are drop-in sessions where students who are beginning a Mobile Computing program can get personal assistance connecting their laptop to Sheridan's network and installing academic software required for their program.

Students who are planning to bring a Macbook Pro to Windows-based Mobile Computing program can also get assistance setting up Boot Camp so they can run a Windows OS on their Mac.

Benefits of Attending a Laptop Readiness Session

* Boot Camp installations can take a long time and there are a number of factors that may make it impractical to install Boot Camp during a Laptop Readiness Session – if this is the case you may be asked to book a Service Desk appointment.

When and Where are Laptop Readiness Sessions Held?

Laptop Readiness Sessions are held prior to the start of the September and January semesters are available at the Davis campus in Brampton, the Hazel McCallion campus in Mississauga and the Trafalgar Road campus in Oakville. Most sessions are scheduled to coincide with new student Orientation events at each campus.

How Do I Register for a Laptop Readiness Session?

Details about specific sessions and registration instructions are available on the Mobile Computing page about a month prior to the semester start dates indicated above. Mobile Computing students will also receive email notification about upcoming sessions via their Sheridan email account.
