  • usernames of the individuals who should have access
    • specify for each user if they should have Read access only or Read/Write access

Requesting/Removing Access to or from an Existing Shared Drive

Adding Access

Users who want access to an existing Shared Network Drive will need to have the owner of the drive request access on their behalf. The drive owner should contact the IT Service Desk providing the following information:

  • name of the drive to be accessed
  • the network username(s) of the individual(s) who are allowed access to the drive (specify for each user if they should have Read access only or Read/Write access)

Removing Access

  • name of the drive
  • network username of the individual(s) to be removed

Requesting Additional Disk Space

The default size for network drives is 500 MB (unless otherwise specified when the drive is created). To request additional disk space, the drive owner should contact the IT Service Desk indicating the following:

  • name of the drive
  • proposed size of the network drive (e.g. 1 TB)*

* Additional storage space that brings the file share above 1TB may require a small departmental cost transfer to Information Technology to accommodate.  An Information Technology staff member will contact the drive owner to discuss the cost transfer, if required.
