Remote Access: Virtual Private Network

Requirements

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) offers Sheridan employees secure access to campus resources that would normally not be available off-campus. The VPN client uses advanced encryption and tunneling to create a private network connection to the Sheridan network over the Internet. This effectively places your remote computer directly on the Sheridan network.

Key Features

  • Secure: allows users to securely access Sheridan network resources – home directories, business applications, shared drives and more.

Hours of Availability

VPN access to Sheridan's network is normally available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Occasionally, systems and/or services must be taken offline for system maintenance. AccessSheridan is unavailable the third Sunday of each month between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. for scheduled maintenance.

Getting Started

VPN Access

Basic VPN access is provided to all Sheridan employees allowing them to connect to the services they typically access when they are at the College. Individuals who require a higher level of VPN access should contact the IT Service Desk.
