VDI Upgrades April 22-23:
Virtual Desktops will be Unavailable

Laptop connected to cloud[Apr. 17, 2017] Beginning on Saturday, April 22 at 9 a.m. until Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m., IT staff will be upgrading Sheridan’s VDI infrastructure. Following this upgrade, users who access a virtual desktop should notice some overall performance improvements.

* VMware Horizon® is a family of desktop and application virtualization solutions designed to deliver Windows and online services from the cloud.

User Impact

Academic Desktops

During the upgrade period, VDI desktops that are accessed via the thin-client machines in the Learning Commons, library or lab locations will be inaccessible. There should be no noticeable difference to users following the update other than snappier performance.

Admin Desktops

Staff users who employ an administrative VDI desktop will be the most impacted by this change:

Employees who are directly impacted by this change have been sent email with further details.
